Question: How do I join a Microsoft Teams call that I've been invited to? 


AnswerThere are multiple ways to join a Microsoft Teams Conference call. By voice, by desktop application or web application. There are two groups of users - Users with Office 365 accounts and users without Office 365 accounts. Below are instructions for both groups of users to join Microsoft Teams calls.

 

When using your computer you will see this screen when joining a Teams call. From this window you can use the browser, Option 2B or the browser, Option 1A.

 

1 ) If you do not have a Microsoft O365 account - You have two options to join a call.

1a) Option 1 is to join by the Microsoft Teams Web App. To do this - in the event invite you will see a button to "Join Microsoft Teams Conference" if you click that a web browser will open and you will be presented with two options. One option is for the "Web app" and the other is for the "Teams Desktop application". Please select "Web App" You will then be asked to type in your name to join the conference call. Note: You may need to allow your browser to use your microphone and web cam. 

1b) Option 2 is to join by phone. If the conference has a dial-in number, you can simply dial the number and follow the voice prompts. You will need to enter in the conference ID (9 digit number) and say your name. You will then admitted into the call. Not all meetings have dial-in information. 

2) If you are are apart of staff, faculty, or student with an O365 account - You have three options to join a call.

2a) You can join a conference call in the two ways listed above or you can join using the desktop application. To do this, log into the Microsoft Teams application and select your calendar. In the calendar tab you will see all your meetings. Simply select the meeting you want to join and click the join button. You can also select the meeting in Outlook and click the "Join Teams meeting" button.
